“I only have good things to say about the team and the hospital.”

Lucas

In January 2020, Lucas came all the way from Brazil to Thailand for his first Stem Cell Therapy. Covid was just starting to catch our attention back in the day. Lucas was accompanied by his mom and aunt who were always by his side the entire treatment.
A year has passed, and we recently got his one-year evaluation follow-up form. After talking to his mom, she kindly agreed to have a Q&A session with us. Here is what she has to say about the treatment and Lucas’ condition now and then:

Tell us about Lucas’s condition.

Lucas had some complications during birth, he had anoxia and low amniotic fluid. With that things started to get worse and worse. Depending on the day, we thought he had cramps or suffering from some other pain, we also thought that the milk wasn’t enough for him.

We decided to visit his doctor who said everything was normal with him. As the days went by we realized that he wasn’t following things or laughing. He wasn’t doing any baby things, so we took him to a pediatrician and found that he had strabismus, we ran some tests and an MRI showed that he had Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH) and then the diagnosis of Morsier Syndrome.

How did you find out about our treatment? And what made you decide to come?

I never stopped looking for alternatives to give Lucas. a better quality of life. 3 years ago we found out that stem cell treatment could be an option for Lucas, I admit that I was afraid to do it. I went through all the patient’s testimonials, spoke to previous patients, and found out that Beike was the best option. I started talking to the representative and I immediately felt very confident about the work they were doing in Thailand. Thanks to God we did everything we could to reach our goals and treat Lucas with stem cells.

How did the treatment go? Which of the supportive therapies do you believe helped Lucas the most?

All the therapies were great and helped him a lot. Occupational therapists taught us how to work with his condition, showing exercises and tricks we could it at home to help. Lucas showed some improvements while we were there. Nutrition changed a lot, people may think it is irrelevant, but a special diet makes a lot of difference in a child with cognitive issues.

When did Lucas start to notice some improvements? How did you feel?

During the treatment, we were constantly playing with Lucas and he started telling us what he was seeing, something that never happened before. After 3 months of the treatment, we noticed that he started to recognize some colors and observe objects within a certain distance.

What do you think about our treatment program? Would you recommend it?

I only have good things to say about the team and the hospital. They were very kind and trustworthy. The medical team was always there to help with any questions we had. I highly recommend it. We always recommend it to parents who are planning to go. And we definitely want to come back for more to increase even more his quality of life.
