Ciska's glaucoma came on suddenly and left her looking at the world as if through a pair of binoculars in a movie. She lost her peripheral vision. She found herself living in a new metropolis having to use what vision she had left to look at the ground in front of her to get around.
Her doctors told her they could halt the progress of the glaucoma but they could not restore her sight. Ciska heard about improvements other optics patients were having with adult stem cell transplants and decided to go for it.
Doctors treating her and the stem cell provider, Beike Biotech, have asked that we note that her improvements, while in line with expectations, were uncommonly rapid. She saw a significant improvement in her peripheral vision within the hour of her first IV transplant.
