Here at Beike Biotechnology we believe in a holistic approach to health and rehabilitation. Therefore, when patients arrive to Better Being Hospital and receive our stem cell treatment they can also receive a therapy that is focused on improving balance, muscle strength, pain reduction and supports better management of neurological conditions. Due to the relaxing nature and support of the water it is a great physical therapy option for patients of all ages and varying conditions.

What is Aquatic Therapy?

Aquatic Physical Therapy is the practice of physical therapy in an aquatic environment by a physical therapist. The unique properties of the aquatic environment enhance interventions for patients with neurological or muscular skeletal conditions. Aquatic therapy includes a wide range of techniques, including aquatic bodywork, physical therapy, aquatic exercise, and other movement-based therapy performed in water. The therapy is designed to improve function, muscular strength, body mechanics and stabilization. Aquatic therapy works to enhance the rehabilitation process and support the effectiveness of stem cell treatment.

What is the procedure?

To begin, each patient will meet with a well-trained Physical Therapist who will complete a comprehensive physical assessment to determine body function issues and areas that need development. After these key areas are found and with special consideration to the patient’s condition, the Physical Therapist will create an appropriate program to support development of the focus areas.

To begin Aquatic therapy patients must first enter the rehabilitation pool. The facilities at Better Being Hospital are designed to support patients who cannot physically perform this task on their own. After entering our heated pool the Physical Therapist will instruct patient’s on correct exercise techniques, breathing control and provide support aids when necessary. All our therapists are highly trained and attentive to patient needs and they encouraged communication throughout the process to ensure maximum treatment results and comfort levels remain consistent.

The pool at the hospital is also a saltwater pool that does not contain chlorine so anyone who is sensitive to typical pool cleaning chemicals need not worry.

Research

Two departments at one of the world’s leading therapy-based universities (Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Science and the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto.) have collaborated for a study on the ‘effects of aquatic therapy on mobility of individuals with neurological diseases’ and determined that there is “fair” evidence supporting the use of aquatic therapy to improve dynamic balance and gait speed in adults with certain neurological conditions.

Another Study performed by a German Hospital (Department of Physiotherapy, Asklepios Neurological Hospital Falkenstein, Königstein/Taunus, Germany) on the “effects of an aquatic therapy approach on functional mobility in sub-acute stroke patients” also found that aquatic therapy does not only yield positive mobility effects but the practice is also safe and very tolerable in stroke patients in post-acute rehabilitation.

As always, these supporting therapies are used in combination with Beike Biotechnolgy’s adult stem cells for a more holistic, comprehensive approach to treating chronic conditions. With these protocols patients can expect better quality of life. If you are interested in receiving stem cell therapy please contact us below for detailed information and consultation.
